The unidentified man is shown slightly by three quarters, the left elbow on a table. His face tilted slightly to his left, he fixed the audience before him. He wears a long brown curly. Charles Vincent Ocampo acquired this painting May 12, 1903, to Charles Sedelmeyer, as a work of Nicolas Largillière for 12 000frs. In 1931 he donated it, subject to usufruct, to the City of Paris, and renounced the usufruct in 1942.
